Tristan Grannum

Cardio Ballet Express
Picture
Tristan is a real New Yorker, and started ballet in his teens.
I am originally from Brooklyn, New York. As an adolescent I was placed in vocal, drama, and music lessons which led me to perform in small shows at my middle school. My art teachers recommended that I should start ballet classes since dance and musicality came naturally to me. After entering LaGuardia High school for Performing Arts and attending various summer programs, many of the dance instructors I trained with pushed me in the direction of a professional career in the ballet field.

He has danced all around the country and the world.
Traveling to Beijing, China where I participated in the Royal Dance Grand Prix and won first place in my respected category (Contemporary/Contemporary Ballet) was a major highlight of my career. Performing with the Black Iris Project in Harlem, NY alongside other professional black ballet dancers from various companies is a memorable moment in my life. Dancing with Brooklyn Ballet, Ballet Austin and most recently Dayton Ballet have all shaped and  influenced my performance quality immensely.

His teaching style combines fitness principles and ballet principles.
Over the years I have taught classical ballet and conditioning to a wide range of individuals from young children to adult beginners. My teaching style incorporates my personal training experience from Equinox with my many years of ballet training/professional work.

Tristan's goal is to help share ballet with under-served communities.
In the future I hope to be a director of a ballet school which focuses on bringing classical ballet to those young children who wouldn’t normally have financial access to the art form.
