Janna Davis

Ballet Burn & Groove

Janna's Unique Story
The first time I saw a lady walk on her toes, I knew I also wanted this superpower. I fell in love with the art of ballet from a young age, and trained and performed throughout my childhood. In my early twenties, after a devastating car accident, I didn't see a way to continue my pursuit of a career in dance. Despite my love for the art, I felt I had no choice but to quit. When life circumstances brought me to NYC 15 years after hanging up my pointe shoes, I was inspired to take my first dance class, and found myself surprisingly strong and - unsurprisingly - very much still in love with ballet. I decided to stop believing that it was too late to pursue a career as a dancer and I have never looked back.

Professional Dance Experience
I have had the unique pleasure of starting a performance career at the time that many dancers have retired. I have been thrilled to dance with Benjamin Briones Ballet, American Liberty Ballet, and most recently in the Amazon TV series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel"

Why She Teaches Ballet
Having ballet as a part of my life as an adult has increased my physical strength, overall joy, and my focus towards my goals inside and outside of dance. As a teacher, I bring my eye for detail, stick-to-it-ivness, and the ability to have fun while sweating.... a lot. I believe that it's never too late to start - or start over - in dance, and, by extension, in life.
