Liz Hepp - Ballet Breathe and Flow
As a professional dancer, Liz loves ballet
I return to ballet again and again because it makes me feel centered in my body and provides a strong technical foundation for the professional work I’m a part of. I also love the classical music!
She has danced her entire life!
When I was a little kid I would spend hours and hours dancing in the living room to my Dad’s “oldies” CD collection, making up my own dances and putting on shows. I then trained intensively for many years in classical ballet and moved into modern and contemporary dance in college.
How she discovered The Ballet Spot
Eliza and I went to college together! I was excited to hear about what she was doing with The Ballet Spot and wanted to be a part of it. I love being able to share the art form with people who may not be as familiar with it or have always wanted to try it.
My class focuses on using breath as an impetus for movement to find ease, mobility, and strength. I also like to play with musicality and patterns in the combinations to keep things exciting.
Words of advice for first timers
Have fun! And try not to take it too seriously. Ballet is an amazing way to self express and get a great workout.
Janna Davis - Cardio Ballet Playlist
Janna's Unique Story
The first time I saw a lady walk on her toes, I knew I also wanted this superpower. I fell in love with the art of ballet from a young age, and trained and performed throughout my childhood. In my early twenties, after a devastating car accident, I didn't see a way to continue my pursuit of a career in dance. Despite my love for the art, I felt I had no choice but to quit. When life circumstances brought me to NYC 15 years after hanging up my pointe shoes, I was inspired to take my first dance class, and found myself surprisingly strong and - unsurprisingly - very much still in love with ballet. I decided to stop believing that it was too late to pursue a career as a dancer and I have never looked back.
Professional Dance Experience
I have had the unique pleasure of starting a performance career at the time that many dancers have retired. I have been thrilled to dance with Benjamin Briones Ballet, American Liberty Ballet, and most recently in the Amazon TV series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel"
Why She Teaches Ballet
Having ballet as a part of my life as an adult has increased my physical strength, overall joy, and my focus towards my goals inside and outside of dance. As a teacher, I bring my eye for detail, stick-to-it-ivness, and the ability to have fun while sweating.... a lot. I believe that it's never too late to start - or start over - in dance, and, by extension, in life.

Jennifer Hite - Cardio Ballet Workout
Jennifer is a Georgia Peach
I am from a little town near Atlanta. I moved up to NYC for an adventure in pursuing dancing and teaching in this concrete jungle.
She's a teacher, professional ballerina, and a painter!
In addition to The Ballet Spot, I also teach kids and dance with The Kennedy Dancers Repertory Company out of Jersey City. Expressing my artistry through painting is also something I enjoy. Many of my friends have my art on their walls!
Jennifer LOVES the challenge of ballet
I love that I will never be perfect. There is always a goal to strive for, always room to push further, turn more and jump higher. As a dancer, I am encouraged to test the limits of humanity and supersede into the ethereal, the beyond, to create for our audience an experience rather than a show.
Her tips for newcomers:
Be confident! You CAN dance, no matter what you’ve been told by the world. Smile! It makes the hard stuff easier. We are in this together.
Rachel Schmidt - Cardio Ballet Workout
Rachel is a California girl
I am originally from San Francisco, where I had the privilege of performing with several dance companies. I even had the chance to perform at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts with Dawson Dance SF! I moved here very recently to explore what the NYC dance scene has to offer.
She has a creative mind and big dreams!
In addition to performing and teaching, eventually I want to direct and produce my own dance film.
In an alternate universe, though, I would love to have a goat farm and make delicious goat cheese!
Everyone is welcome in Rachel's class
I love when I see students push themselves beyond what they thought their limits were. Be positive and always tell yourself that you can do it. And remember, the most important thing is to have fun - it's just ballet
Arianna Henry - Pilates/Ballet Medley
A hardcore workout where time flies because you're having so much fun - whether it be from creative planking or her silly jokes.
She Believes Pilates and Ballet Are Soulmates
Pilates is the number one cross training for dancers. Pilates gives you the long, lean muscles and strength you need for ballet.
